Google Docs adds new features. It is now enabled to add text watermarks

Late last year, Google added a new feature to Google Docs that allows users to upload images to watermark documents. But the latest today, Google announced more. Now it allows users to easily watermark with text.

Explanation of adding or editing the watermark image in Google Docs


For text watermarks in a user-adjustable format in the sidebar. By clicking on the Insert > Watermark menu, users will be able to choose whether or not they want to upload an image. Or use it as a recently added alt text. Any users will be able to change the font, font size, text style, including placement.

Adding this feature will make it easier for users to add watermarks. Shows the status of the document, such as Confidential, Top Secret, or Draft (Draft).

This feature is currently rolling out to users. It will be widely available in the coming weeks to users of Google Workspace, G Suite Basic, and G Suite Business.


Explanation of adding or editing the watermark image in Google Docs 

  1. On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
  2. Go to Insert and then Watermark.
  3. Click Select image Insert image.
  4. Select an image from:
  • Drive
  • Photos
  • The web
  • A URL
  • Your camera
  • An upload from your computer
  • Optional: In the panel on the right, change the format of the watermark.
  • Click Done.

  1. Right-click the watermark.
  2. Click Select watermark.
  3. In the toolbar, select Image options.

Add or edit a text watermark

  1. On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
  2. Go to Insert and then Watermark.
  3. In the panel on the right, click Text.
  4. Type the text you want to appear as a watermark.
  5. Optional: In the panel on the right, you can format your watermark.
  6. Click Done.

To make changes to your watermark, you can also


  1. Right-click the watermark.
  2. Click Select watermark.
  3. Below the watermark, click Edit watermark.

Delete a watermark

  1. Go to Insert and then Watermark to open a panel on the right.
  • You can also:
  1. Right-click the watermark.
  2. Click Select watermark.
  3. Below the watermark, click Edit watermark to open the panel.
  4. At the bottom of the panel, click Remove watermark Delete .
